We need your help in addressing this issue...What concerns me with the Gloom of Bank of America Bankrupting Countrywide:

where the priorities of the major lenders lie.
Here is the timeline that led to this threat of bankruptcy:

2009: The Attorney General Jerry Brown sued Countrywide Financial, its chief executive Angelo Mozilo, and President David Sambol, for "engaging in deceptive advertising and unfair competition by pushing homeowners into mass produced, risky loans for the sole purpose of reselling the mortgages on the secondary market." Facing a lawsuit over deceptive mortgage practices, Bank of America Corp. subsidiary agreed to modify tens of thousands of loans to keep people in 11 states from losing their homes. That settlement was made in February in 2009. Bank of America agreed to launch the new mortgage aid program (AG) in December 2009.

2009-2011: My concern is the tens of thousands of homeowners who were offered and ACCEPTED the so-called "Country Wide California Attorney General Modifications (AG Modifications)." As the servicer of these loans, Bank of America chose not to accept the prequalifying terms and conditions mandated by the Attorney General. The problem is that Bank of America wanted it both ways- they wanted the financial profits from being the servicer of these loans, but didn't want the terms. This was compounded by Bank of America not notifying the borrowers that their modifications were not closed out. Instead, they continued to accept payments for up to two years. In effect, the modifications were cancelled, but they kept taking the money and applying it as a partial payment to the account, eventually putting the loan in jeopardy for foreclosure.

NOW: What should be done?

The California Attorney General Kamala D. Harris office should actively enforce compliance by Countrywide or Bank of America with the settlement agreement they signed and close out the modified loans they agreed to service now.
